Tanbridge Academy offers a comprehensive skill development program for male and female students. Students are provided the opportunity to follow their passion by participating in two training sessions each week during the school year. Through this combination of rigorous academic and athletic programs, aspiring athletes are taught the skills necessary for success. Our program offers students the opportunity to train at their own facility with their own horse. For other students, a complete equestrian program is available (facility, horse use, etc.).
Our Skill Development program is open to any student who is passionate about their sport, regardless of their current skill level. Athletes are exposed to expert coaching and instruction that allows them to improve their abilities and experience success.
Tanbridge's International Equestrian program focuses on developing the novice rider on all the basic skills to achieve a solid riding foundation. The students will be exposed to flatwork, which includes transitions and lateral work, poles and cavalettis for balance and rhythm and over fences through both gymnastic exercises and course work. The school horses are well trained and well-mannered and are used in both flat and jumping lessons, up to 0.9m in height. All horse tack is provided.
We are very fortunate to have Christine Waldroff as the head instructor of the Equestrian program. Christine is the owner and operator of Teesdale Riding School, established in 1986. She received her British Horse Society teaching accreditation in 1981. She has competed up to 1.45m and has had students compete up to the 1.40m and coaches both hunter and jumper riders in lessons that range from 0.9m – 1.40m.
The equestrian facility sits on 65 acres and overlooks the beautiful foothills and Rocky Mountains. It consists of two indoor arenas, two outdoor sand rings and two outdoor grass rings. It is conveniently located within five minutes of the City of Calgary, three minutes away from the world-class equestrian centre Spruce Meadows and one minute from Tanbridge Academy.
